For the 3rd year running, this sell-out illuminated phenomenon is returning to the magnificent Castle Park in Colchester this winter. With a new and reimagined trail, Enlightened 2024 is set to be the biggest, boldest and brightest year yet! .
Enlightened features over a mile of specially curated twinkling illuminations, along with a wealth of brand-new installations that have never been seen before at Enlightened Colchester. Immerse yourself in a 50m-long digital tunnel of light, be amazed by an awe-inspiring laser show, and prepare to be dazzled as mysterious creatures are brought to life with 3D special effects.
Try your hand at one of the many new hands-on interactive exhibits created specifically for Ethis event – and don’t forget to visit the land of wishes, where there are magical guardians that really do like to see dreams come true.
Hop, skip and jump along stepping stones while taking in the ocean of light and high energy fountain show set to a uniquely commissioned soundscape.
At the end of the evening we’ll be holding our free prize draw – a great opportunity to win some Festive goodies to take home.
Tickets
Boundless members can book a maximum of four tickets per membership number.
- Adults (aged 16 and over): £10 per ticket – that’s a saving of £8.50 per ticket.
- Children (aged 4 – 15): £5 per ticket – that’s a saving of £7 per ticket.
**Saving of £34 compares four Boundless adult tickets to the on-the-door price for four adults of £74. Saving excludes on-site Boundless benefits.
Please note that you’ll need to purchase your tickets for a specific time slot – this Is to ensure the trail doesn’t get overcrowded.
Boundless tickets are only available in advance and cannot be bought on the day. Tickets are subject to availability and cannot be sold or transferred. The booking member must be present on the day and show their Boundless membership card and identification to access the venue. Guests must be accompanied by the booking member.
The Boundless team attends all our events to make sure your day goes as smoothly as possible. We’ll also have our official Boundless photographer on site to capture the best moments for you, your family and friends. All photos will be available for you to download after the event. If you upload any of your own pictures to social media be sure to use the hashtag #bemoreboundless for a chance to be featured on our social pages.
By buying tickets, you’re agreeing to have your photo taken and any images used on our marketing platforms. If you’d prefer not to have your photo taken or appear on our website or social pages, please let us know when you arrive and we’ll make sure arrangements are made.

How do I get there?
The address is Colchester Castle Park, Colchester, Essex, C01 1TJ
The entrance is located by the war memorial on the High Street only. There is no access to Enlightened from any other Castle Park entrance.

Where do I park?
There is no parking available at the event but there are lots of car parks available only a few minutes walk from the start of the trail. You can find a list of the city centre car parks here .
What should I do when I arrive?
When you arrive, come and see the Boundless team by the entrance and we’ll give you everything you need for the event, including your admission lanyard and entry into the prize draw. Please make sure you arrive at least 15 minutes before your trail start time.
Are there any age restrictions?
All guests will need an admission ticket. Children aged 2 and under are free and do not require a ticket.
I have a friend or family member who wants to come as well
Great, bring them along! The only provision is that the booking must be made by a Boundless member and that everyone who attends has a valid admission ticket. The Boundless member will have to show their membership card and identification on the day and any guests will have to accompany them on arrival. Due to ticket capacity, members are entitled to bring a maximum of three guests (including children aged 3 and over).
Only tickets purchased through Boundless will entitle you to Member Day benefits. Boundless tickets must be reserved in advance and will not be available on the day.
What time does this event start and end?
The trail opens at 5pm and you’ll have to choose a specific time when booking your tickets. The trail last about an hour and Is approximately a mile long.
Can tickets be transferred?
Once you’ve purchased your event tickets, they can’t be transferred as a current member with valid membership card needs to be present. This is because we have a very limited number of tickets and must ensure the offer benefits Boundless members.
How accessible is the trail?
The trail at Castle Park, Colchester has a number of steps towards the start of the trail and may be unsuitable for wheelchair users. However, there is a bypass route which is suitable for wheelchair users but does involve an incline.
Please note, due to the type of the event, some areas of the site will have limited lighting. Please keep to the illuminated pathways at all times and keep track of younger visitors. Paths are uneven in places and may be slippery under foot in poor weather, so please wear suitable footwear. We advise visitors to wrap up warm as the event takes place throughout the grounds with no indoor shelter.
Are dogs allowed on site?
The venue welcomes all guide and assistance dogs (with restrictions), but pets are not permitted.
