What discounts are available for over-60s?
Attractions and activities discounts
• Boundless – If you're retired from the public sector or civil service, you can make savings on a wide range of days out by signing up to Boundless. You’ll get unlimited access to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, along with its sister attraction at Wakehurst (worth £84 for a year); a free 12-month membership to Kids Pass (worth £39.99) that’ll get you discounted entry to hundreds of UK activities; 50% off tickets to the Grampian Transport Museum in Scotland, year-round invitations to cut-price member days at some of the UK’s most cherished places, and much more.

• English Heritage – If you’re 65 or over, you can get a Senior membership for just £63 per year/£5.25 per month (standard adult price £69 per year/£5.75 per month. A Joint Senior membership, for two over-65s, is also available at £96 per year/£8 per month). Each adult can take up to six children with them at no extra cost. With any English Heritage membership, you get access to over 400 historic sites across the country, making these deals exceptional value for money.
• National Trust – People aged 60 and over who’ve been a National Trust member for at least the last three years can get a 25% discount when they next renew their membership. This will reduce the cost from £84 per year/£7 per month to £63 per year/£5.25 per month. A joint senior membership is also available for £104.40. To request this senior membership concession, you’ll need to call the National Trust on 0344 800 1895. National Trust membership grants you access to over 500 special places across the UK, from castles and stately homes to gardens and nature reserves.
Boundless members can also save 10% every time they purchase a National Trust gift card.
• Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) – The RHS doesn’t offer concessions on its Individual or Joint annual memberships. However, if you’re interested in a Life Membership – which will grant you and a family guest or two children unlimited admission to the RHS’s five gardens for the rest of your life – the good news is that over-60s get a significant discount (£935) compared with the standard adult price (£1,495). There’s money to be saved on the joint Life Membership, too, with over-60s paying £1,335 instead of the usual £2,045.
Health and wellbeing discounts
• PURE Spa and Beauty – With over 20 locations across England and Scotland, PURE Spa and Beauty offers a wide range of treatments and packages. Over-60s can get 20% off from Monday to Thursday, and 10% off from Friday to Sunday.
• Better Health – A Senior Membership is available to those aged 66 and over, offering concessionary rates at gyms and spas nationwide.
• Boundless – If you're retired from the public sector or civil service, signing up to Boundless will enable you to save money on spa experiences across the UK. As well as enjoying discounted treatments at Lavish Spa and Beauty, you can get 20% off spa packages through Virgin Experience Days.

• Dobbies – From Monday to Friday (12-3pm), over-60s can get a main meal and a cake for just £11.95.
• Asda – Until the end of February, over-60s can enjoy soup with a roll and unlimited tea or coffee for just £1.
• Patisserie Valerie – Over-60s can get 10% off their order.
• Simpsons Fish & Chips – Available at its Cheltenham shop, Simpsons’ Senior Meal Deal (Tuesdays, 11.45am – 2pm) gives over-60s the chance to enjoy cod or haddock and chips, a choice of sauces and bottomless tea or coffee, all for just £10.
• Three Horseshoes Inn – This pub in Leek, Staffordshire runs a Senior Citizen Lunch Offer (Monday to Friday lunchtimes) whereby seniors can get a small roast dinner and a dessert for £11.25.
• Boundless – If you're retired from the public sector or civil service, you can sign up to Boundless, which will give you free instant access to tastecard including Coffee Club. tastecard will enable you to enjoy 2-for-1 dining or 25% off your food and drinks bill at some of the UK’s biggest restaurant chains, including Prezzo, Beefeater, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Burger King, as well as at thousands of independent eateries nationwide. You can also get 50% off pizza delivery at Domino’s, Papa Johns and Pizza Hut Delivery. Your free Coffee Club membership will get you 25% off barista-made drinks at a huge choice of coffee shops, including Caffè Nero and Krispy Kreme.
Supermarket discounts
• Iceland and The Food Warehouse – Over-60s with an Iceland Bonus Card can get 10% off their shopping bill every Tuesday (no minimum spend).

Entertainment deals
Cinemas
• Cineworld – Every Wednesday, the cinema chain runs its CineSeniors initiative, where over-60s can enjoy a special screening for just £4.50 (that price also includes complimentary hot drinks and biscuits). It’s a great opportunity to connect with people in your local community while catching up with the latest movies
• Odeon – This cinema chain offers a similar deal with its Silvers screenings, held during quieter times of the day. Movies shown include everything from the latest Hollywood films to timeless classics, with prices starting at £3.50 (includes tea or coffee and biscuits).
• Showcase – On Mondays, Silver Screenings enables over-60s to watch a movie for just £5 (£8 at Showcase Cinema de Lux Bluewater), as long as it starts before or at 4pm. Offers on hot drinks and snacks are also available.
• Picturehouse Cinemas – The popular chain runs a free-to-join club called Silver Screen, where over-60s can buy discounted tickets for special screenings and enjoy free tea or filter coffee.
• Boundless – If you're retired from the public sector or civil service, you can sign up to Boundless, which will enable you to save up to 37% on tickets, snacks and drinks at the UK’s major cinema chains through The Cinema Society.
Theatres
• Numerous theatres across the UK offer discounts for over-60s, enabling you to watch a show for less. These include the National Theatre in London (discount depends on performance, venue, price band, etc), the Young Vic in London (tickets from £15 for Monday-Wednesday performances), the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon (20% off selected performances for over-65s), the Bristol Old Vic (£2 off), the Everyman in Cheltenham (£2 off price bands 1-3), the Sherman in Cardiff (£2 off), and Edinburgh’s Capital Theatres group (concessions for over-65s on Sunday-Thursday performances). Elsewhere, ATG Tickets – which represents multiple theatres across the UK, says on its website that “concessions or special ticket types may be available for senior citizens (anyone over the age of 60) for select shows”. These are just some of the theatres that offer concessions, and it’s always worth checking if over-60s discounts are available when booking your tickets.
• As a Boundless member, you can get 10% off a wide range of shows through Boundless Tickets, whatever your age.
Bowling
• Hollywood Bowl – Concessionary rates for over-65s are available all week. Discount varies depending on the branch.
• Kingpins Bowl – This chain offers cheaper bowling for seniors, reducing the price of a single game from £7.25 to £6.75, and the price of two games from £10.75 to £10.25.
Transport/travel discounts
Transport
• National Express – With a Senior Coachcard (£15), over-60s can get a third off standard and fully flexible fares for a whole year. Not only that, but on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays you can get a £15 day return to anywhere in the UK, and if you’re travelling to an event you can get 15% off a Fully Flexible fare.
• National Rail – Over-60s can buy a Senior Railcard (£30 for one year, £70 for three years) that slashes the price of UK rail travel by a third. The card also unlocks year-round discounts on holidays, wine, theatre tickets and more.
• Older person’s bus pass – In England, you’re entitled to free bus travel as soon as you hit the State Pension age (the exception being London, where you can get a Freedom Pass at age 60, enabling you to travel free on buses, Tubes and other transport within the capital). Residents in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland can apply for their bus pass from the age of 60.
Hotels and resorts
• Hilton – A Senior Rate, for over-65s, is available at participating hotels within the Hilton portfolio. Select Special Rates > Senior Rate when booking.
• Marriott Bonvoy – If you’re aged 62+, you can get a discount of up to 30% when you book a room.
• Princess Hotels & Resorts – Over-60s can get a discount of up to 10% when booking a holiday in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura or La Palma.
• Radisson Hotels – You can get a discount at participating hotels (typically 10% off the standard price). Select Senior Citizen Rate when booking.
• Seafield Caravan Park – This Northumberland resort gives over-65s a 10% Senior Citizen Discount (Bank Holidays and July/August bookings excluded).

• Boots – The high-street chain runs an Over-60s Rewards scheme whereby senior citizens can access regular discounts both in-store and online.
• Poplar – Based in Essex, this garden centre gives senior citizens a 10% discount on Wednesdays.
