Don't miss this month's fascinating "Free Talk" 'Wildlife Wanderings' By David Bailey BBC Springwatch photographer at The Holiday Inn Swindon SN3 6AQ. at 7.15 pm on Thursday 17th April.
His talk, ‘Wildlife Wanderings’ explains equipment and time required to capture images. The stories behind the images of which there are a wide variety of species. The presentation includes images of a leveret having a bad hare day, fishy goings on with puffins, otters, deer rutting, beavers munching and many other feathery and furry species.
The talk also includes a quiz of which some of the answers are not what you might expect!
Self-taught in photography he was quickly persuaded to turn professional in 2008.
Through this work the BBC asked David to appear with Nick Baker on Springwatch he also recorded a solo piece for Springwatch Extra. Since then, he has made many media appearances on both television and radio.
In 2016 he was presented the Brand Personality Award by the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation for being the World’s Best Wildlife Photographer in his field.
David has work on projects for the Wildlife Trusts, National Trusts, Red Squirrel Trust. His work has been published many times in newspapers magazines including the Forces News and featured online by the BBC’s Wildlife Magazine. He has also written features for the world’s oldest countryside magazine, The Countryman.
In May 2017 his first book, Wildlife Wanderer was published by Gomer Press. His second titled Wildlife Wanderings was published October 2020. David is now working on his next book to be published late in 2025.
This promises to be a very interesting evening for our members and one not to be missed!
Refreshments will be available as usual. There is also free parking but do please register your car on arrival at reception.
