The Classic Vehicle Group invite you to join them to explore the beautiful countryside and sea views which make early summer Dorset so fascinating.
Back by members’ popular demand – and it really is! We are going back to the summer joys of Portland and the Jurassic coast but with a different restaurant finish to go with the unique lighthouse and views.
We will meet just south of Lyndhurst at The Swan on A35, for registration, tea, coffee and biscuits (other buffet food available at cost). After a short briefing we will pass through a beautiful section of the New Forest, crossing into Dorset and skirting Bournemouth, Poole Harbour and the Arne Nature Reserve made famous on Springwatch TV with its heaths, reed beds and natural history, to reach the Isle of Purbeck and the hauntingly impressive ruins of Corfe Castle.
Moving westwards along the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, including close to Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, there will be options for lunch and stops at places of interest along the way. We will reach the impressive traditional seaside resort of Weymouth. The resort will be in full swing, and after passing the impressive Marina we will climb up out of the town and move across the causeway on to the Isle of Portland.
Passing stunning views of Chesil Beach and reminders of Portland’s stone working heritage, we will finish at the most southerly point, Portland Bill, with an optional visit to the famous lighthouse exhibition where, if we wish, there may be an opportunity to climb the tower. We are including afternoon cream teas at the adjoining restaurant, and hopefully taking in lots of fresh air and sunshine.

The entry fee includes rally plate, tulip road book, refreshments at start and cream tea at Portland Bill.
